The BioRISE training program aims to weave together Indigenous ways of knowing with western science to address issues of molecular, organismal, regional, and global importance. We apply concepts like “two-eyed seeing” to a wide variety of the biological sciences to address the fundamental question, “How do biological systems bounce back?” The BioRISE Postbaccalaureate Program is directed through a partnership among the Coeur d’Alene Tribe (Schi̲tsu’umsh), Nez Perce Tribe (Nimiipuu), the University of Idaho and Washington State University. It is funded by a grant from the National Science Foundation’s Research and Mentoring for Postbaccalaureate Program (RaMP).
