Fisheries Biologist

This position is located with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Northwest Region, Regional Office, Division of Trust Services, Branch of Natural Resources in Portland, Oregon or Vancouver, Washington.

Duties:

  • Serve as a Fisheries Biologist responsible for technical assistance and monitoring plans and programs related to Indian fisheries program.
  • Prepare and submit program budgets, goals and objectives to conform available funds to comply with policies, standards and procedures.
  • Recommend actions relating to litigation and negotiation support concerning fisheries program activities.
  • Monitor anadromous fisher regulatory actions of the region to ensure regulations do not deprive Indians the opportunity to harvest their share of the fish resource.
  • Responsible for managing budgets, and prepare annual budget estimates and distributions based on allotted funds.
  • Serve as Awarding Officials Technical Representative during award, administration, and monitoring contracts and grants.
  • Prepares, conducts or coordinates consultation required by Section (7) of the Endangered Species Act for actions taken by or on behalf of the BIA effecting listed marine and freshwater aquatic species
